Reference Photos
To create a portrait that truly captures your pet’s personality, I need a clear, high-quality photo; ideally, a well-lit headshot where I can see their face and eyes in detail. Natural lighting works best (think: by a window or outdoors in soft shade), and bonus points if you catch them with their signature look or goofy grin! A great photo really helps me bring out your pet's unique charm in your portrait.
I usually work from one main image, but feel free to send me a few — the more I can get to know your pet, the better. If you're unsure which photos will work best, you’re more than welcome to email me a selection. I can help you choose or offer tips. Additionally, I’m happy to blend two pictures to get the perfect pose.
If your pet is no longer with you, please don’t worry. I’ll do everything I can to work with the photos you have and honor their memory with care and love.
Just one small note: I do need original images (.jpg or .png) — no screenshots or heavily cropped photos, please.
Progress Photos and Completion
Progress photos - You have the choice of receiving progress photos or giving yourself the surprise of a complete portrait.
Completion - Once your painting is complete, I will send you a high-quality preview of the finished piece. Now is the time for minor changes (Any major changes will require additional charges). Once you are 100% satisfied, the remaining balance can be paid.
Your finished piece will include a signed and stamped certificate of authenticity, and will be carefully wrapped to bring to a professional framer.
Size and Pricing
First things first, let’s pick the perfect size for your portrait! Whatever you’re imagining, I’m happy to help guide you based on your pet’s photo and the space you have in mind. Think about where your portrait will live. Maybe it’s a cozy spot on a shelf or front and center on your gallery wall. The location might help determine if you want a head and shoulders pose or a full body pose.
The right size and orientation will make your pet’s personality shine even more.
Before I begin, I always confirm the details, including size and any special touches.
Booking your painting
To reserve your spot on my waitlist, a non-refundable retainer of $75 is required — this goes toward the total cost of your portrait. Once we’ve finalized the details, I’ll send over an invoice for the retainer and any other arrangements we’ve discussed.
Monthly payment plans are available if you'd prefer to spread things out a bit. Final payment is due at the time of your portrait’s final reveal, just before it’s lovingly packaged and shipped to you.
My portraits are created on a first-come, first-served basis and typically take 2–3 weeks to complete, depending on the complexity. I often have a waitlist, so if you’re hoping to have your artwork ready for a special occasion — like a birthday, anniversary, or holiday — just let me know as early as possible. I’ll always do my best to accommodate meaningful deadlines!
